At Stripe, we believe in end-to-end project ownership. For each project, one person is accountable for ensuring it reaches completion. While you’ll have support, it’s your responsibility to see the work through. We launch betas and prototypes early to ensure we’re building what users need and actively contribute to the community by developing open-source software.Responsibilities
- Work on cross-functional projects, collaborating directly with other engineers.
- Provide thoughtful feedback on code reviews and technical designs.
- Maintain and scale systems to meet user needs, ensuring reliable operation.
- Build the skills to take a project from concept to completion, developing expertise in project management and technical leadership.
Who You Are

- A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in computer science or a related field (completed by summer 2025) or equivalent work experience.
- Some programming experience, gained through side projects, coursework, or internships. We primarily use Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go but value foundational skills and adaptability.
- Experience in collaborative coding projects, whether in a university or professional setting.
- A capacity to learn new systems and understand them through independent research, mentoring, and collaboration with experts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in one or more specialized areas, such as frontend technologies or understanding how a service manages HTTP requests.
- Experience in code review practices and updating production systems safely.
- Familiarity with large codebases.
