Associate Manager, Software Engineering

The Red Hat OpenShift AI (RHOAI) team is looking for an Associate Engineering Manager with expertise in Kubernetes and MLOps to lead our DevTestOps team. As part of our rapidly growing engineering team, you’ll contribute to building the next generation of hybrid cloud MLOps platforms. You’ll collaborate with open-source communities, influence the roadmap of the RHOAI product, and support enterprise customers in accelerating their AI-driven business success. Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Management

    • Inspire and manage a distributed team of Red Hat engineers, fostering innovation and collaboration.
    • Guide the team in technical design discussions, roadmap prioritization, and stakeholder communication.
    • Mentor team members in their career development and provide regular coaching and performance feedback.
    • Recruit and onboard talented engineers to grow the team.
  • Technical and Product Contributions

    • Engage with leading AI and ML open-source communities such as KServe, Kubeflow, HuggingFace, and vLLM.
    • Collaborate with product management to define technology roadmaps and schedules.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including documentation, product management, and QA, to deliver enterprise-grade MLOps software.
    • Partner with technical and scrum leads to implement and refine agile development practices.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • Proficient in developing applications using Go, Python, or similar programming languages.
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, or other cloud-native technologies.
  • Solid understanding of MLOps concepts and workflows.
  • Proven experience in leading software development teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with diverse, globally distributed teams.

Preferred:

  • Practical experience in open-source and free software communities.
  • Hands-on knowledge of public cloud services like AWS, GCE, or Azure.
  • Experience working with or deploying MLOps platforms.
  • A degree in Computer Science or related disciplines is appreciated but not mandatory—real-world experience and technical skills take precedence.
