General Summary:

This role involves testing and modifying general systems-level software/hardware, as well as specialized utilities and hardware. The candidate will interpret wireless specifications, design test plans, create scenarios, scripts, and procedures, and document system-level defects using a bug tracking system. Responsibilities also include reporting defects to developers, identifying, analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting issues with program functionality, output, or content. Additionally, the candidate will develop testing programs to evaluate the effectiveness of new systems or modifications to existing ones.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete tasks promptly while focusing on deadlines.
  • Understand basic system features.
  • Collect basic information (e.g., logs, requirements) and identify common errors related to system testing.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve team goals.
  • Conduct log analyses to locate issues.
  • Gather, integrate, and interpret information from multiple sources to troubleshoot problems.
  • Assist in verifying that solutions to identified issues are effective.
  • Detect bugs in the system under test and resolve them using fundamental debugging techniques.
  • Adapt to minor changes and setbacks, managing pressure and deadlines effectively.
  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables under close supervision.
  • Provide feedback on identified feature issues to software and systems teams.
  • Regularly communicate with managers and peers about testing issues to maintain open communication.
  • Conduct basic field or lab tests as instructed by technical leads.
  • Make simple decisions on basic feature issues and seek clarification from tech leads when requirements are unclear.
  • Communicate with tech leads to verify accuracy and adequate runtime of tests.
  • Collaborate with team members to explore alternative solutions to problems.
  • Write functional tests to ensure feature functionality.

Level of Responsibility:

  • Works under close supervision.
  • Takes responsibility for own tasks and makes decisions with limited impact; mistakes are generally timeline-related and require additional time to fix.
  • Uses verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine information about daily activities to others with knowledge of the subject.
  • Completes multi-step tasks requiring some planning and prioritization; mistakes may result in some rework.
  • Applies creativity to troubleshoot technical problems and handle unique circumstances.
  • Uses deductive problem-solving skills to resolve moderately complex issues; problems typically have defined diagnostic processes and may require limited data analysis.

This role does not include:

  • Financial accountability (e.g., budgeting responsibility).
  • Influence over major organizational decisions.
  • Involvement in strategic planning.
